The most common question we get before booking is what it will cost. The honest answer is that it depends on the job, so instead of publishing a number that would be wrong for most people, here is exactly how ERB – Express Repair Buddy prices work and how to get a real figure for your home today.

How our pricing works

  1. The estimate is free. Call, or send the quote form, and we will price the job at no cost to you.
  2. You get the price before the work. Nothing starts until you know what it costs and you have said yes.
  3. No obligation. If the number does not work for you, that is fine. You are not committed to anything by asking.
  4. No surprise additions. If we find something genuinely unexpected once we open things up, we stop and talk to you before doing anything extra.
  5. One team for the whole list. Grouping several small jobs into one visit is almost always cheaper than booking them separately.

What affects the price of a job

Two jobs that sound identical on the phone can be very different once we see them. The main things that move the price are:

  • Scope. How much actually needs doing, and whether related work has to be done at the same time.
  • Parts and materials. Whether you already have the fixture, or we supply it, and what quality you want.
  • Access. A shut-off valve behind a tiled wall or wiring in a tight crawl space takes longer than one in the open.
  • Condition and age of the home. Older San Diego properties often need extra work to bring something up to current standards.
  • Code requirements. Electrical and plumbing work has to meet the National Electrical Code and San Diego County requirements. We do not cut corners on this.
  • Time on site. Some jobs are 30 minutes, some are a full day.

Is the estimate really free?

Yes. We quote the job at no cost and there is no obligation to book. If you decide not to go ahead, you owe us nothing.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

You get the estimate free. Anything else that would be charged is explained to you up front, before you agree to the work.

Why is there no price list on this page?

Because a flat price would be wrong for most jobs. A leaking tap in a modern bathroom and a leaking tap in a 1950s house behind a tiled wall are not the same job. We would rather look at yours and give you a real number.

Can the price change once work starts?

Only if we find something that was not visible when we quoted, such as hidden water damage or wiring that is not to code. If that happens we stop, show you, and get your agreement before doing anything extra.

Do you take on small jobs?

Yes. Small jobs are most of what we do. There is no minimum job size.
